MINUTES OF THE ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING OF THE AVON LAKE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL JANUARY 2, 2026 Mrs. Fenderbosch led Council, staff, and the public in the Pledge of Allegiance. The Certificates of Election were submitted by the Clerk of Council, Valerie Rosmarin. Nicolas Meinert administered the Oath of Office to Kayla Goodwin, Council At-Large elect. Geoffrey Smith administered the Oath of Office to Matthew Reynolds, Council At- Large elect. Tim Smith administered the Oath of Office to Geoffrey Smith, Council At-Large elect. The Organizational Meeting of the Avon Lake Municipal Council was called to order on January 2, 2026, at 7:46 p.m. in the Council Chamber with Law Director Ebert presiding. Present: Councilmembers Jennifer Fenderbosch, Amy Gentry, Kayla Goodwin, David Kos, Matthew Reynolds, Rob Shahmir, and Geoffrey Smith; Mayor Mark Spaetzel; Law Director Gary Ebert; and Clerk of Council Valerie Rosmarin. Mrs. Fenderbosch moved to nominate Mr. Smith to serve as Council President for the 2026/2027 term of Council. There were no other nominations. Yes: Fenderbosch, Gentry, Goodwin, Kos, Reynolds, Shahmir, Smith No: None Motion carried. Mr. Shahmir moved to nominate Mr. Kos to serve as President Pro Tempore for the 2026/2027 term of Council. Mr. Kos moved to reappoint Thomas Tyler to the Avon Lake Historical Preservation Commission, pursuant to Code of Ordinances Chapter 272, for a three-year term commencing January 1, 2026, and expiring December 31, 2028.
