RESOLUTION NO. 26-12 INTRODUCED BY: Mr. Kos A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING A GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $45,885 FROM COMMUNITY WEST FOUNDATION, IN PARTNERSHIP WITH CLEVELAND CLINIC FAIRVIEW HOSPITAL, FOR THE PURCHASE OF TWO LUCAS MECHANICAL CPR DEVICES FOR THE AVON LAKE FIRE DEPARTMENT AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, the Avon Lake Fire Department provides critical emergency medical services to the residents of the City of Avon Lake; and WHEREAS, Community West Foundation, in partnership with Cleveland Clinic Fairview Hospital, has awarded a grant in the amount of Forty-Five Thousand Eight Hundred Eighty-Five Dollars ($45,885) to the Avon Lake Fire Department; and WHEREAS, the grant funds are designated for the purchase of two LUCAS Mechanical CPR Devices, which provide continuous, high-quality chest compressions during cardiac arrest and enhance patient care and responder safety; and WHEREAS, acceptance of this grant will allow the City to obtain advanced lifesaving equipment without the use of City tax revenues; and WHEREAS, Council finds that acceptance of this grant is in the best interest of the health, safety, and welfare of the residents of Avon Lake. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AVON LAKE, STATE OF OHIO: Section No. 1: That Council hereby accepts the grant in the amount of Forty- Five Thousand Eight Hundred Eighty-Five Dollars ($45,885) from Community West Foundation, in partnership with Cleveland Clinic Fairview Hospital, for the purpose of purchasing two LUCAS Mechanical CPR Devices for the Avon Lake Fire Department. Section No. 2: The Mayor and/or the Director of Finance are hereby authorized and directed to execute any documents and take any actions necessary to accept, receive, and administer said grant funds in accordance with the grant requirements. Section No. 3: That it is found and determined that all formal actions of Council relating to the adoption of this Resolution were taken in an open meeting, and that all deliberations of Council and its committees resulting in such actions were conducted in meetings open to the public in compliance with all applicable legal requirements, including Section 121.22 of the Ohio Revised Code. RESOLUTION NO. 26-12 Page | 2 Section No. 4: This Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure, the emergency being the necessity of accepting funds to purchase live-saving equipment for the Fire Department, thus for the health, safety, and welfare of the public. Therefore, this Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor.
