RESOLUTION NO. 26-18 INTRODUCED BY: Ms. Gentry A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING A GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $69,072 FROM THE NORTHEAST OHIO PUBLIC ENERGY COUNCIL 2026 ENERGIZED COMMUNITY GRANT AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, the City of Avon Lake is a member of the Northeast Ohio Public Energy Council (NOPEC) and is eligible for NOPEC Energized Community (NEC) Grants for 2026 as provided for in the grant program guidelines; and WHEREAS, the City desires to enter into a grant agreement with NOPEC, Inc., in substantially the form presented to this Council. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AVON LAKE, STATE OF OHIO: Section No. 1: That Council hereby finds and determines that it is in the best interest of the City to accept the Northeast Ohio Public Energy Council (NOPEC) Energized Community (NEC) Grant for 2026 in the amount of $69,072, for the purpose of funding eligible energy-efficiency, energy-infrastructure, and facility improvement projects as authorized under the NEC Grant Program Guidelines, and further authorizes the Mayor to execute the grant agreement and all related documents necessary to receive and administer said funds. Section No. 2: That it is found and determined that all formal actions of Council relating to the adoption of this Resolution were taken in an open meeting, and that all deliberations of Council and its committees resulting in such actions were conducted in meetings open to the public in compliance with all applicable legal requirements, including Section 121.22 of the Ohio Revised Code. Section No. 3: That this Resolution is declared to be an emergency measure, the emergency being the necessity for the immediate preservation of the public health, safety, and welfare of the City.
