CITY OF BROOKLYN, OHIO RESOLUTION NO. 2025-17 INTRODUCED BY: Pucci, Tanski, Celcherts, Grodek, Borowski, Coyle, Mosley A RESOLUTION HONORING AND RECOGNIZING BROOKLYN CLERK OF COUNCIL MARY-JO BANISH ON HER RETIREMENT WHEREAS, Mary-Jo Banish has served the City of Brooklyn with dedication and distinction for an extraordinary 48 years; and WHEREAS, since 1986, she has provided direct and invaluable support to the Members of Brooklyn City Council, first as Assistant Clerk of Council and, beginning in 2018, as Clerk of Council; and WHEREAS, throughout her tenure, Mary-Jo has been a trusted and knowledgeable resource, assisting numerous Council Members in fulfilling their duties to the public; and WHEREAS, she led key initiatives to modernize Council operations, including the improvement of record retention practices, the codification of all city ordinances, and the digitization of city records dating back to 1923- enhancing access to the city’s rich historical archives; and WHEREAS, Mary-Jo generously shared her extensive historical knowledge of Brooklyn with the Administration, Council Members, community organizations, and the public; and WHEREAS, she consistently demonstrated a spirit of cooperation and community, willingly assisting co- workers and volunteering at a variety of community events; and WHEREAS, Mary-Jo has been a dedicated and exemplary public servant, always conducting herself with the utmost professionalism and integrity in her role as Clerk of Council. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BROOKLYN, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: Section]. Council hereby honors and thanks Mary-Jo Banish for her outstanding service to the City of Brooklyn and its residents, and for her steadfast support of the Brooklyn City Council over the decades. Section 2. Council extends their heartfelt congratulations on her retirement and wishes her and her husband, Bob Saggio, a long, healthy, and joyful retirement. Section 3. It is found and determined that all formal actions of this Council concerning and relating to this Resolution were adopted in an open meeting of this Council, and that all deliberations of this Council and of any of its committees that resulted in such formal actions were in meetings open to the public in compliance with all legal requirements, including Section 121. 22 of the Ohio Revised Code. Section 4. For the reasons stated in the preamble, this Resolution is declared an emergency measure, and provided it receives the affirmative vote of at least two thirds of Council it shall take effect and be in force immediately. or otherwise it shall take effect at the earliest period allowed by law.
