CITY OF BRUNSWICK, OHIO 

                                  MINUTES OF COUNCIL 

                                   Monday, March 25, 2024 


Prayer and Pledge of Allegiance The regular meeting of Brunswick City Council was called to order by Mayor 
Ron Falconi at 7:00 p.m. at the Municipal Complex. 
Roll Call of Members showed the following Council Members present: Nicholas Hanek, Michael Abella Jr., 
Keith Kuczma, Joseph Delsanter, Tim Smith, Kristy Piper. 

Nicholas Hanek moved to excuse Brandon Lambert for just cause shown, seconded by Kristy Piper. Roll Call -
Ayes - 6, Nicholas Hanek, Michael Abella Jr., Keith Kuczma, Joseph Delsanter, Tim Smith, Kristy Piper. Nays -
0. Motion Carried. 

Others Present: Mayor Ron Falconi, City Manager/Safety Director Carl DeForest, Law Director Dennis Nevar, 
Clerk of Council Laura Timura.

Approval of Regular Council Meeting Minutes dated March 11, 2024. Nicholas Hanek moved to approve the 
Regular Council Meeting Minutes dated March 11, 2024, as written, seconded by Joseph Delsanter. Roll Call 
- Ayes - 6, Nicholas Hanek, Michael Abella Jr., Keith Kuczma, Joseph Delsanter, Tim Smith, Kristy Piper. Nays -

Mayor's Report: 

Mayor Falconi informed Council of his decision to appoint Grant Aungst to the Medina County Land 
Reutilization Corporation's Board of Directors. 
OMCA  to present Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) Designation to Laura Timura: 

Helen Dunlap, President of the Ohio Municipal Clerks Association, presented Laura Timura with the Certified 
Municipal Clerk Designation. She noted that there are approximately 100 clerks in the State of Ohio with the 
designation. Mrs. Timura noted that she was thankful for Council's support of continuing education. 
Certificates of Achievement in Recognition of the Arrow of Light: Cub Scout Pack 3517: 

Mayor Falconi commended Landon Arthur, Dexter Ebenger, Noah Hebb, Joseph Simon, Gavin Winzig, and 
Bennett Zula for their Arrow of Light achievement.

 RES. NO. 29-2024 -A resolution authorizing the City Manager to enter into a service agreement with Flock 
 Safety for the provision of ten (10) safety cameras in the City in an amount not to exceed $30,000.00. - 1st 
 Reading (To be brought from Safety & Environment Committee, Administration/Robert Safran): 

 Mr. Kuczma moved this resolution to second reading. 
 City Manager's Report Mr. DeForest reminded that the Senior Fair will be held at the Recreation Center on 
 Wednesday, March 27, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. 

 Brunswick City Hall will be closed on Friday, March 29 in observance of Good Friday. 

 The City Income Tax Office wilt be open for in-person help with residents' taxes on Saturday, April 6, from 9 
 a.m. to 12 p.m. and Saturday, April 13, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Open Forum   Mickie Petrenko (3771 Magnolia Drive) relayed that she referred to the Brunswick Facebook 
 page for activities related to the Total Eclipse on April 8. She then shared multiple places that would be 
 holding celebrations and activities. Some places of interest include: Ignite Brewery, Hope Church, Grace 
 Baptist Church, Majestic Meadows, and Medina Recreation Center. 

 Nancy Frognowski (465 Pembroke Cove) expressed concerns pertaining to a gas leak on her street. She 
explained that she had called the Fire Department who were unable to identify a problem and referred her 
to the gas company. The gas company informed her that there was a gas leak, and it could take 18-24 
 months before it would be fixed. Ms. Frognowkski asked if the City Council could help her with the matter. 

 She had heard on Facebook that a new development along with shops would be built on Pearl Road. 
 Ms. Frognowski asked if the Council referred to the Facebook page and reviewed the comments. She noted 
that there were a ton of comments that she felt provided good feedback related to the project. 
 Unfinished Business There was none. 
 New Business 
 Consideration of a new liquor permit request for Raam LLC, DBA Fat Bob Pizza at 1739 Pearl Road, 
 Brunswick, OH 44212: 

 Mr. DeForest noted there were no objections from the Administration. 

 Mr. Kuczma revealed that next Monday is Dyngus Day for all Polish residents. The day is celebrated with 
 water fights and with whipping of pussy willows. This joyous event was opened back up to the public and 
 will take place on Detroit Avenue.
