CITY OF BRUNSWICK, OHIO 

                                   MINUTES OF COUNCIL 
                                    Monday,June24,2024 


Prayer and Pledge of Allegiance The regular meeting of Brunswick City Council was called to order by Mayor 
Ron Falconi at 7:00 p.m. at the Municipal Complex. 
Roll Call of Members showed the following Council Members present: Nicholas Hanek, Brandon Lambert, 
Michael Abella Jr., Keith Kuczma, Joseph Delsanter, Tim Smith, Kristy Piper. 

Others Present: Mayor Ron Falconi, City Manager/Safety Director Carl DeForest, Law Director Dennis Nevar, 
Clerk of Council Laura Timura. 
Correspondence  There was none. 
Approval of Regular Council Meeting Minutes dated June 10, 2024. Nicholas Hanek moved to approve the 
Regular Council Meeting Minutes dated June 10, 2024, as written, seconded by Joseph Delsanter. Roll Call -
Ayes - 7, Nicholas Hanek, Brandon Lambert, Michael Abella Jr., Keith Kuczma, Joseph Delsanter, Tim Smith, 
Kristy Piper. Nays - 0. Motion Carried. 
Mayor's Report: 
Certificate of Achievement presented to Brunswick Dodgers BU Travel Baseball Team: 

Mayor Falconi presented a proclamation honoring the team for the tournament they won, defeating the LC 
Mavericks in Bellevue. 
Certificate of Achievement presented to Brunswick Dodgers 10U Travel Baseball Team: 

Mayor Falconi presented a proclamation to the team in recognition of the tournament they won, defeating 
Medina Sting in Creston. 
Proclamation in recognition of Chappelle Roofing's grand opening: 

A proclamation was presented to recognize the June 14 grand opening of Chappelle Roofing. 
Mayor's recommendation to appoint Sarah Alfano to the Juvenile Diversion Board: 

If anyone on Council has questions regarding the recommendation, they should contact the Mayor.

ORO. NO. 56-2024 - An emergency ordinance authorizing the City Manager to take all actions necessary to 
establish an Opt-In Natural Gas Aggregation Program pursuant to Ohio Revised Code Section 4929.27(A)(l), 
jointly through NOPEC as a NOPEC member. - 3rd Reading (Committee-of-the-Whole, Administration/Grant 
Aungst): 

Nicholas Hanek moved to adopt Ordinance Number 56-2024, seconded by Kristy Piper. Roll Call - Ayes- 7, 
Nicholas Hanek, Brandon Lambert, Michael Abella Jr., Keith Kuczma, Joseph Delsanter, Tim Smith, Kristy 
Piper. Nays - 0. Motion Carried. 
2nd Reading(s) 
RES. NO. 60-2024 - An emergency resolution authorizing the City Manager to purchase replacement Mobile 
Data Terminals and mounting hardware for Division of Police vehicles from Baycom Inc. in an amount not to 
exceed $112,140.00. - 2nd Reading (Safety & Environment Committee, Administration/Robert Marok): 

Mr. Kuczma moved this resolution to third reading.

City Manager's Report Mr. DeForest noted that the City's fireworks would occur on the evening of July 3 
behind the high school with a July 5 rain date. He remarked that these would be the only legal fireworks in 
the City. He reminded that both the Recreation Center and City Hall would be closed on July 4. 
Open Forum There was none. 
Unfinished Business There was none. 
New Business  Mrs. Piper informed that there will be several upcoming events: Funkology will be performing 
on July 3 from 6-9 p.m. before the fireworks, Family Movie Night will take place at the Recreation Center on 
July 5 at dusk, entertainment will be provided by Rick Smith Jr. on July 6 at 1 p.m. at the Recreation Center, 
Independence Celebration Parade will occur at 2 p.m. on July 7. 

Mr. Smith remarked that Rick Smith Jr. provided amazing entertainment that is not to be missed. He 
congratulated St. Ambrose on a great festival that included great bands. He felt this was the Brunswick 
festival event of the year. He expressed his appreciation for the successful event.
