CITY OF BRUNSWICK, OHIO 
                                  MINUTES OF COUNCIL 
                                  Monday, February 10, 2025 


Prayer and Pledge of Allegiance The regular meeting of Brunswick City Council was called to order by 
Mayor Ron Falconi at 7:00 p.m. at the Municipal Complex. 
Roll Call of Members showed the following Council Members present: Nicholas Hanek, Brandon Lambert, 
Michael Abella Jr., Keith Kuczma, Joseph Delsanter, Tim Smith, Kristy Piper. 

Others Present: Mayor Ron Falconi, City Manager/Safety Director Carl DeForest, Law Director Dennis Nevar, 
Clerk of Council Laura Timura. 
Correspondence  There was none. 
Approval of Regular Council Meeting Minutes 
Regular Council Meeting Minutes dated January 27, 2025: 

Nicholas Hanek moved to approve the Regular Council Meeting Minutes dated January 27, 2025, as written, 
seconded by Kristy Piper. Roll Call - Ayes - 7, Nicholas Hanek, Brandon Lambert, Michael Abella Jr., Keith 
Kuczma, Joseph Delsanter, Tim Smith, Kristy Piper. Nays - 0. Motion Carried. 
Mayor's Report: 
Mayor's Court Financial Report for the month ending January 2025 will be posted on the website and added 
to the minutes for the record. 
Mayor Falconi recommended the appointment of James Evanoff Jr. to the Financial Audit, Review & 
Advisory Committee and to the Medina County Community Improvement Board to fulfill a three-year term 
expiring March 7, 2028. He also recommended the reappointment of Nancy Zelei and Carl DeForest to the 
Medina County Community Improvement Board to fulfill a three-year term expiring March 7, 2028. 

If anyone on Council has questions regarding these recommendations, please contact the Mayor. 

Motion to appoint Michael Sinclair to the Charter Review Commission: 

Joseph Delsanter moved to appoint Michael Sinclair to the Charter Review Commission, seconded by 
Brandon Lambert. Roll Call -Ayes- 7, Nicholas Hanek, Brandon Lambert, Michael Abella Jr., Keith Kuczma, 
Joseph Delsanter, Tim Smith, Kristy Piper. Nays - 0. Motion Carried. 
Motion to reappoint Abbas Hasan to the Planning Commission retroactive to January 25, 2025: 

Nicholas Hanek moved to reappoint Abbas Hasan to the Planning Commission retroactive to January 25, 
2025, seconded by Brandon Lambert. Roll Call - Ayes - 7, Nicholas Hanek, Brandon Lambert, Michael 
Abella Jr., Keith Kuczma, Joseph Delsanter, Tim Smith, Kristy Piper. Nays - 0. Motion Carried. 
Motion to reappoint Lisa Jackson-Clements to the Board of Zoning Appeals retroactive to January 25, 2025: 

Tim Smith moved to reappoint Lisa Jackson-Clements to the Board of Zoning Appeals retroactive to January

 003-18A-13-003, 003-18A-13-006, 003-18A-13-009, 003-18A-15-008, 003-lSA-49-004 and 003-lSA-49-005 
 located on Pearl Road and Boston Road consisting of approximately 110.7838 total acres as SPD-10. - 3rd

Mr. De9santer noted the importance of investments such as this in the 1:; ommunity. He felt it created an 
element of change that was relatively positive and exciting for the community. The community owed the 
Clements family a thank you for keeping their invested goodness •n the community. 

Mr. Smith mentioned that Greg Clements was an inventive and innovative person in the City. He revealed 
that members of the community have asked him about Pearl Road and its development. Mr. Smith noted 
that Greg Clements was a resident of the City his entire life and decided to purchase and develop this 
property to keep it alive and growing. His new innovative ideas will go well into the future and help keep 
Brunswick on the map. 

Mr. Lambert revealed that he was involved in many of the planning meetings with Mr. Clements and 
admitted it was an exercise in patience. Mr. Lambert stated that it was important that the City embrace the 
right projects and this was the right project. He thanked Mr. Clements for being a good partner in working 
with the City. 

Mayor Falconi echoed his thanks to Greg Clements, his family, and his team.

RES. NO. 3 -2025 - An emergency resolution authorizing the City Manager to purchase three (3) 2025 Ford 
Police Interceptor Utility Vehicles and one (1) 2025 Ford Escape with police equipment installed for the 
Division of Police from Montrose Ford in an amount not to exceed $233,000.00. - 3rd Reading (Safety & 
Environment Committee, Administration/Robert Safran): 

Keith Kuczma moved to adopt Resolution Number 3-2025, seconded by Kristy Piper. Roll Call - Ayes - 7,

ORD. NO. 13-2025 - An ordinance amending Section 1280.0l(h) of the City of Brunswick Codified 
Ordinances by prohibiting adult use marijuana cultivators and retaH dispensaries in the city. - 1st

Mr. Hanek moved this ordinance to second reading and referred back to Planning Commission for review. 
ORD. NO. 14-2025 - An ordinance amending Section 1266.04(g) of the Codified Ordinances of the City of 
Brunswick by including adult use marijuana processors as a conditionally permitted use in the l·L Light

ORD. NO. 15-2025 -An ordinance accepting the Collective Bargaining Agreement with the International 
Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 52 (Division of Finance, Parks and Recreation, Permits and Inspections and 
Clerical Employees of the Division of Fire) for a period of three (3) years effective January 1, 2025 through

 City Manager's Report Mr. DeForest relayed that the Parks and Recreation Master Plan that was discussed 
 with Council on January 27 was published to the City's website. If anyone has questions, they can contact 
 either City Manager, Carl DeForest or Parks and Recreation Director, Taylor Petkovsek. He reminded that 
 City Hall will be closed on Monday, February 17 to commemorate President's Day. Lastly, he congratulated 
 Greg Clements and SPD-10.

 New Business Mr. Smith wished everyone a Happy Valentine's Day including his sweet valentine of SS years.
