[PLAN - Plans-Drawings for GUIDE PLAN UPDATE - - FUTURE LAND USE PLAN - 2-11-2026 - PENDING] --- [Guide Plan Update Memo] TO: Westlake Planning Commission FROM: Jim Bedell CC: Nicolette Sackman DATE: 2/26/26 RE: Guide Plan Update The Future Land Use Map in the Westlake Guide Plan was last amended on 5/10/21 to reflect the rezonings for the Hope Pointe Place Townhomes. Since then, staff has updated the map internally to incorporate rezonings approved after 2021 and newly platted subdivisions. To keep the document current, and to update its planning horizon from 2010–2025 to 2010–2030, an amendment is now needed. While our long‑term goal is to complete a full Guide Plan update that integrates the Center Ridge Corridor Master Plan, refreshed census demographics, and provides a comprehensive review of the Future Land Use Map, that effort has been delayed due to more immediate zoning amendments. Because this map is referenced in nearly all staff reports, updating the end date to 2030 will provide clarity and consistency in the interim. We have been implementing this map since 2010, and its recommendations are expected to remain generally valid for the next several years as we work toward a full Guide Plan overhaul. Recommendation: I move to amend the Westlake Guide Plan Future Land Use Map.
