PUBLIC GROUNDS, BUILDINGS & RECREATION COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES
JANUARY 20, 2026
Present:
Committee members Mark Getsay, chair; Todd LeVeck and Dave
Greenspan.
Also present:
Councilmembers Duane Van Dyke, Dave Del Regno, and Amy Havelka;
Mayor Dennis Clough; Service Director Chris Stuhm; Engineering
Director Jim Smolik; Recreation Director Paula Horner.
The meeting convened at 6:01 p.m.
Discuss contributions towards city facilities.
I.
Mayor Clough explained
that
Dr. Vasu Pandrangi
and
his wife,
Lisa—residents
of
Westlake who have raised their family here—would like to make a generous donation of
$1.5 million to the city to give back something lasting and useful to the citizens of Westlake
in the way of a facility for family events or gatherings. Engineering Director Smolik
presented preliminary ideas involving Clague Park Cabin renovations and a new building
at Bradley Nature Park. He stated that Westlake resident and architect Steve Schill has
offered to donate his professional services for the design. Mr. Smolik reviewed the 2026
and 2027 budgets and the Recreation Improvement Fund and projects already planned.
Councilmembers expressed gratitude to the Pandrangis for their generous donation and
asked general questions of the administration. The consensus was for the Mayor to move
forward working with the Pandrangis to accept their donation and grant them naming rights
consideration.
The meeting adjourned at 6:27 p.m.
