CAVA Mediterranean Restaurant Files $900K Permit for University Circle Location

CAVA, the fast-casual Mediterranean chain growing rapidly across the country, filed a $900,000 permit to build out a 2,858-square-foot restaurant in the University Circle neighborhood, with work covering a full kitchen, restrooms, and mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems.

CAVA, the publicly traded Mediterranean fast-casual chain known for grain bowls and pita wraps, filed a $900,000 interior buildout permit in March 2026 for a new restaurant in Cleveland's University Circle neighborhood.

The 2,858-square-foot space at the Uptown development will receive a full tenant improvement, including new kitchen equipment, restrooms, and exterior modifications, according to the permit filed under project number PRJ26-010909. The permit was filed by AJAPPJR Uptown LLC and lists plans by CESO Inc.

University Circle is one of Cleveland's most active growth corridors, anchored by University Hospitals, the Cleveland Clinic, Case Western Reserve University, and a cluster of major cultural institutions. The Uptown mixed-use district has attracted national and regional restaurant and retail tenants in recent years.

CAVA operates more than 350 locations nationally and has been expanding into Midwestern markets. The permit is currently under review.
