Columbus Lines Up More Than $2.9M for Krieger Court Stormwater Work

Columbus is advancing both the construction contract and project oversight package for the Krieger Court Stormwater Improvements project, putting more than $2.9 million behind drainage upgrades intended to reduce flooding and strengthen neighborhood infrastructure.
Columbus is moving forward with a sizable stormwater investment at Krieger Court. Recent legislation covers both the main construction contract for the Krieger Court Stormwater Improvements project and a related contract modification for construction administration and inspection services, together pushing the total public commitment above $2.9 million.
The core construction item authorizes a contract with JLD Construction Services, LLC for $2,567,522.66. A companion ordinance adds up to $343,576.00 for Stantec Consulting Services, Inc. to handle construction administration and inspection. Both items are tied to the Ohio Water Development Authority Storm Sewers Fund and related city capital financing tools.
Stormwater projects rarely draw the same attention as stadiums, towers, or rezonings, but they shape day-to-day neighborhood resilience in more direct ways. When cities spend this kind of money on drainage systems, residents often experience the payoff through fewer flooded streets, fewer drainage failures, and less pressure on nearby homes and infrastructure during heavy rain.
The Krieger Court package shows Columbus continuing to treat flood mitigation as a capital priority rather than a maintenance afterthought. It is exactly the kind of infrastructure story that becomes more important with every major storm.
