Avon Lake City Council authorized the mayor to settle a legal dispute with Jeremy Betsa, the city's former Fire Chief, resolving active cases simultaneously in U.S. District Court, Lorain County Common Pleas Court, the EEOC, the Ohio Civil Rights Commission, the Ohio State Employment Relations Board, and the Avon Lake Civil Service Commission.

The City of Cleveland has filed a permit to restore the exterior of historic Fire Station #28 at 310 Carnegie Avenue and its connecting bridge to the Western Reserve Fire Museum — masonry cleaning, sandstone repair, new windows, new roof, structural helical ties, and flashing.

A charter amendment on the May 5 ballot would create a Division of Community Crisis Response inside Columbus Public Health — mandating $5M in year one, scaling to $12M by 2031, with 24/7 unarmed teams answering 911 calls that don’t require police or fire.
