AN ORDINANCE REPEALING CHAPTER 559 OF THE NORTH 
OLMSTED 
CODIFIED 
ORDINANCES 
ENTITLED 
“ALARM 
SYSTEMS” AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.     
 
 
WHEREAS, the Director of Public Safety and Chief of Police have, during the 
course and scope of administering Chapter 559, Alarm Systems, observed that the 
regulations are antiquated in relation to modern business practices and no longer 
necessary to protect the health, safety and general welfare of North Olmsted residents; 
and 
 
 
WHEREAS, it is accordingly the desire of this Council, acting upon the 
recommendation of the Administration, to repeal Chapter 559 of the North Olmsted 
Codified Ordinances.   
 
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY 
OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, STATE OF OHIO: 
 
 
SECTION 1: That Chapter 559 of the North Olmsted Codified Ordinances is 
hereby repealed.   
 
SECTION 2: That all other ordinances or resolutions, or parts of ordinances or 
resolutions, that are inconsistent or in conflict with the repeal of Chapter 559 of the North 
Olmsted Codified Ordinances are likewise repealed to the extent of such inconsistency or 
conflict only.  This includes, but is not limited to, Chapter 561.01 “Criminal Nuisance 
Activities Declared” at (a)(13) only which declares a violation of 561.01 for “Any alarm 
system violation under Section 559.07 (False Alarms) of the Codified Ordinances” which 
subsection is likewise repealed.   
 
 
 
SECTION 3: That this Ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency measure 
immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare, and 
for the reason that it is necessary that this Ordinance go into effect immediately so as to 
allow the City to swiftly eliminate outdated and infective regulations imposed against 
businesses and residences alike; and further provided it receives the affirmative vote of 
two-thirds of all members of Council, it shall take effect and be in force immediately 
upon its passage and approval by the Mayor.
