[2022-60 Samantha Caleris.pdf] CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED RESOLUTION NO. 2022 – 60 BY: Mayor Nicole Dailey Jones A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE ACHIEVEMENT BY SAMANTHA CALERIS OF THE GOLD AWARD IN GIRL SCOUTING WHEREAS, this Council and the Administration recognize and reaffirm their dedication to organized Scouting; and WHEREAS, this Council and the Administration further recognize that those participating in Scouting, both the youths and their leaders, are an invaluable asset to the community and the Nation, and that the ideals of Scouting, the Scout Law and the Scout Pledge are commitments that all citizens should strive for; and WHEREAS, when one of our young citizens has been committed to Scouting to such an extent that she earns the Gold Award, the highest honor in Girl Scouting, it is truly a noteworthy accomplishment; and WHEREAS, Samantha Caleris, daughter of Ted and Shelly Caleris, is a 2022 graduate of Cuyahoga Heights High School; and WHEREAS, Samantha Caleris is a recipient of the prestigious Girls Scouting Bronze and Silver Awards as a member of Girl Scout Troop #70825, and has been a Girl Scout member for 13 years in North Olmsted; and WHEREAS, Samantha Caleris has demonstrated significant leadership skills during the Girl Scouts of Northeast Ohio (GSNEO) World Friendship Fair event over the past four years. Under her leadership, Troop 70825 was instrumental in planning and leading the organization of events for the entire service unit of North Olmsted; and WHEREAS, Samantha Caleris’ Gold Project is a revitalization of the Cuyahoga Heights Drama Department including the creation of a green room for the Drama Department, organizing and leading a clothing drive for the Drama Department and establishing a Varsity Letter Requirement for Drama Club through her high school, and WHEREAS, Samantha Caleris is a member of National Honor Society, who has taken honors and advanced placement coursework, and will be attending Cleveland State University beginning in fall 2022; and WHEREAS, Samantha Caleris has participated in Marching Band for six years, in softball for two years, and worked at the North Olmsted Oxcart Food Pantry in the Summer of 2021, as well as part-time at Swings-N-Things, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: SECTION 1: That this Council extends its best wishes and heartiest congratulations to Samantha Caleris on her achievement of the Gold Award. SECTION 2: That the Clerk of Council be, and she is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Samantha Caleris.
