[2024-80 Grant Community Development Block Senior Center.pdf] CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED RESOLUTION NO. 2024 - 80 By: Mayor Jones A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF ECONOMIC AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT TO MAKE APPLICATION ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED FOR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT (CDBG) FUNDS FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 2024 FOR THE NORTH OLMSTED SENIOR CENTER RENOVATION PROJECT; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ACCEPT GRANT FUNDS, IF AWARDED, AND TO EXECUTE CONTRACT WITH CUYAHOGA COUNTY IF REQUIRED; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, the City of North Olmsted is eligible to apply for grant funding administered by the Cuyahoga County Municipal Grant Program, which awards projects on a competitive basis upon review of community development needs related to health and welfare; and WHEREAS, based on grant requirements and analysis of improvement target areas, the administration requests authorization to apply for funding to construct improvements and renovate the North Olmsted Senior Center to be funded in 2024; and WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to authorize the Director of Economic and Community Development to apply for such funding and, if granted, to further authorize the Mayor to execute a contract required to accept such funding. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: SECTION 1: That the Director of Economic and Community Development be and he is hereby authorized to apply for grant funding from the Cuyahoga County Municipal Grant Program, including Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding, so that the City of North Olmsted may obtain funding for the North Olmsted Senior Center Renovation Project. SECTION 2: That the Mayor be, and she hereby is, authorized to accept the said funding, if awarded, on behalf of the City of North Olmsted and to execute a contract with Cuyahoga County, if required. SECTION 3: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare and for the further reason that it is necessary that this legislation go into effect immediately in order to meet the application deadline; and further provided that it receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members of Council, it shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor.
