[2023-3 Contract Motorola WatchGuard.pdf] CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED RESOLUTION NO. 2023 - 3 By: Mayor Jones A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT WITH MOTOROLA TO PURCHASE FIFTY (50) MOTOROLA WATCHGUARD BODY CAMERAS, TOGETHER WITH RELATED TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE, FOR DEPLOYMENT BY THE NORTH OLMSTED DIVISION OF POLICE, AT A COST OF $139,569.00 THROUGH THE STATE PURCHASE PROGRAM AND FUNDED THROUGH GRANT FUNDS FROM THE OHIO OFFICE OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE SERVICES AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, the Director of Public Safety has recommended that the City of North Olmsted receive and spend approved Ohio Criminal Justice Services funds, in the amount of $139,569.00 (with no matching requirement), to equip North Olmsted Division of Police with Motorola WatchGuard body cameras, together with related technical assistance; and WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to authorize the Mayor to purchase said cameras, through the State Purchase Program, as a permitted exception to the competitive bidding procedure that would otherwise be required for such expenditures, and to further authorize the Mayor to execute contract documents required for such expenditure. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: SECTION 1: That the Mayor be and she is hereby authorized to purchase, through the State Purchasing Program, which was established by R.C. Section 125.04, and which the City is authorized to participate in pursuant to the City Charter and Resolution No. 87-6, fifty (50) Motorola WatchGuard body cameras from Motorola, as described in the specifications on file in the Public Safety Department. Further, as may be necessary, the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute any contract documents required by the authorized vendor(s), the State of Ohio, or the Charter / Ordinances. SECTION 2: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare and for the further reason that such cameras will better provide for the safety of employees of the Division of Police and the public; and further provided it receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members of Council, it shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor.
