[2023-152 State Capital Budget Old Town Hall.pdf] CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED RESOLUTION NO. 2023 - 152 By: Mayor Jones A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE ADMINISTRATION’S REQUEST FOR APPROPRIATIONS FROM THE STATE OF OHIO, BY AND THROUGH THE STATE’S CAPITAL BUDGET, FOR THE OLD TOWN HALL REVITALIZATION PROJECT (PHASE I). WHEREAS, this Council supports the Mayor’s request of the State of Ohio to consider appropriations for the Old Town Hall Revitalization Project (Phase I) as part of the State’s Capital Budget for the reasons outlined below; and WHEREAS, Old Town Hall is a building recognized on the National Historic Registry, based on its age and having played a key role in the history of North Olmsted. The City of North Olmsted has planned for renovation including the roof and masonry work in order to continue to use the space for community gatherings and events for arts and culture, such as the Mayor’s Art Show featuring artwork by local students. Upon completion, the City expects to house the Dover Center Players community theater. WHEREAS, it is accordingly the desire of this Council to support the Mayor’s effort to seek appropriations from the State of Ohio in order to fund capital improvements at Old Town Hall, and accordingly directs this Resolution to our Representatives in the Statehouse. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: SECTION 1: That this Council does hereby support the Mayor’s request for appropriations by the State of Ohio in order to provide funding in the State’s Capital budget for necessary capital improvements for the Old Town Hall Revitalization Project (Phase I). This Council hereby petitions the State of Ohio to recognize the important of Old Town Hall and prioritize the City’s funding request accordingly. SECTION 2: That the Clerk of Council is hereby directed to send a Certified copy of this Resolution to the appropriate administrative agencies and public officials, as may be directed by the Administration, as well as including elected representative in the House and Senate. SECTION 2: That this Resolution shall take effect and be in force from and after the earliest date provided for by law.
