A lengthy discussion took place on Seeding quote Oak Park $2,500.00 A Dock, $3,500.00 C Dock. Stephens moved that the seeding take place next year, that way it can be budged for in 2026. Market moved to Approve Covalen spare pump for Victory & Catawba Aves. $7,209.00 to be expended out of sewer capital improvement. Second by Sulesky. Roll: Stephens; yes, Koehler; yes, Market; yes, Sulesky; yes, Biery; yes, Cerny; yes. COMMITTEE REPORTS: Koehler question if there is paid parking on Catawba near the church. Complaints on the bathing beach are being received; Village does not have the man power nor the equipment to routinely upkeep. Questioned if there is training for the parking attendants? Has received complaints on how they have been unhelpful and rude to the tourists. Sulesky stated that the Request for Proposal for a Townhall Assessment will be done by the Village Administrator. PLANNING COMMISSION: Sulesky spoke on the swimming pool amendments, Islander Inn restroom additions, and the Village early phases of researching becoming a historical district. COUNCIL BUSINESS: Market spoke on the Township contract with the Sheriffs Department coming to an end this year. Would like to see the Village work on a proposal for police services, and present to the trustees. Will work with Chief and Fiscal Officer on numbers and other details. Committee of the Whole will meet June 10th, 2025 at 8:00 am for the discussion of a police services contract with the Township. No action will be taken. Market stated that the sealcoating on the streets should take place in the fall, not the spring. DEPARTMENTS: Chief of Police: The Tiffin University collaboration with the Village is moving quick, Grant has been written. Working on funding options for funding a K9. Full roster this season; 8 full time, 10 part time, and 3 dispatchers. Village Administrator: Toured the Village streets looking for flaws, holes, and where signage will be needed. See report. Fiscal Officer: $3,330.00 in donations on behalf of Craig Cox to Law Enforcement Foundation Fund. Close to $25,000.00 in “Sponsor a Cop” sponsorships from local businesses. MAYOR REPORT: Asked council to consider changing the days of meetings from Tuesdays to Fridays. PUBLIC PARTICIPATION: Dave Schaffer: Asked for a Vehicle Tax compliance update. Also stated that 4 seats on council are up at the end of the year and for those 4 members to consider staying on council because they have been to active and positive. Bob Gatewood; Toledo Ave: Vehicle Tax compliance update. Jim Antau; Ibis Blvd: Questioned the side of the street the sewer line will be on, and if the residents on Ibis have been interviewed for their concerns with the construction. John Titchner; East Point Blvd: Great Lakes Demo, president walked around the street surveying and talking to residents. Concerns on the trencher and where it will start; it is very large and the street is very narrow. Laura Fogg; Airline Drive: Supports Village and Twp. Having one police department. Biery moved for council to enter Executive Session to consider the appointment, employment, dismissal, discipline, promotion, demotion, or compensation of a public employee or official; and for the discussion of pending and imminent litigation.
