Former East 130th Street Daycare to Become Nonprofit Construction Trade School

A $300,000 renovation permit has been filed to convert a former daycare at 2860 East 130th Street in Cleveland into the Trade's Master Institute, a nonprofit school that will train students in masonry, carpentry, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and IT/AV trades — expanding vocational education on Cleveland's southeast side.
A permit filed with the City of Cleveland calls for the renovation of a building at 2860 East 130th Street — formerly used as a daycare — into a nonprofit construction trade school called the Trade's Master Institute.
The $300,000 interior and exterior remodel, filed April 14, would establish a facility offering training in masonry, carpentry, electrical work, HVAC, plumbing, and IT/AV systems. The project is classified as a charitable institution.
The property is in Ward 6 in Cleveland's Buckeye-Shaker corridor, an area that has seen renewed civic investment in recent years. The permit is listed as awaiting intake approval.
The owner of record is Nayyir Al Mahadi. The project architect of record is listed as Arcatek (arcatek@udltd.com).
Construction trade schools have drawn growing interest across Northeast Ohio as the region grapples with a shortage of skilled trades workers. If approved and built, the Trade's Master Institute would bring structured vocational pathways to a neighborhood that currently lacks a dedicated trades training facility.
